Jennine Burkwit is a certified medical qigong practitioner through Alchemical Courtyard, an organization in Miami, Fl affiliated with the International Institute of Medical Qigong. She has been practicing and leading groups of qi gong meditations since 2015 giving people the tools for balance and grounding. She is also a church cantor/pastoral musician providing healing though her music at various churches in the Diocese of Venice. A transplant to Southwest Florida from Miami, she is thrilled to be a part of MyNaturoWellness as medical qigong is an amazing compliment to naturopathic medicine.
Her passion and love of this healing art began with her own personal experience of turning to Chinese Medicine years ago for help which sparked the beginning of a beautiful lifelong journey that has healed and changed her life in ways that she could have never imagined. She immediately saw the benefits weekly Medical Qigong sessions has had on her life and began to self cultivate, study, and practice this ancient art. It has provided her with tools for healing her anxiety and sleep disorders. It has become her life passion to bring health, healing, and well being to all that come across her path.
What is Qi?
Qi is the Chinese Medicine term for energy, the force we call life. The Chinese compare it to the streams, brooks, rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans of Earth. It flows in us via interconnected pathways. In a way it is like electricity. It flows in a current, and though we can not actually see it, we can see the manifestations of it, and feel the effects of it. All life has it. It is what animates us, brings us to life, and it converses with every aspect of life.
Have you ever walked into a room and felt an instant heaviness where you just knew something was off? Or maybe you walk into a room and it felt light and joyful? No one has to say anything but you can feel it? What are you feeling in those moments is what we call Qi.
What is Medical Qi Gong?
Medical Qi Gong is a branch of Chinese Medicine which recognizes the root causes of symptoms or disease by regulating the client's qi and helps the client as a whole. By tonifying, purging, and regulating the body's energy through sessions, conversation, and exercises, one can eliminate internal and external pathogens, increase or decrease relative qi levels as needed to counteract a deficiency or excess in the organ channels, and regulate and balance yin and yang energy, bringing the body into better balance. This highly effective and beautiful practice of qi gong has been passed down from teacher to student for over 5,000 years and Jennine is honored to teach this practice at MyNaturoWellness.
Jennine focuses her practice on creating time and space for her clients to allow energy to move and be processed with what is present and ready to be moved. The more we move and process stagnant energy the more clear, grounded, and aligned we begin to feel emotionally, mentally, and physically. Our Qi (energy) is meant to be flowing and in balance for optimal health and wellness, when Qi becomes stagnant, that is when health problems occur and we begin to see physical manifestations such as inflammation and disease. Jennine also focuses on guiding her clients to purge, tonify, and regulate their energy bodies through teaching self cultivating exercises. Medical qi gong exercises and sessions bring back balance and helps reduce stagnation to bring back flow and vitality to the body.
